Presentation of the 2015 Order of St John/NHS Organ Donor Awards

24/11/2015

The Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Mr David McDonnell CBE DL presented the Order of St John/NHS Blood and Transplant Service Awards at Liverpool Town Hall this year.  These awards are presented to families who have lost love ones and they mark the fact that even at their time of breavement the families have been able to agree to organ donation.  This difficult but vital decision has meant that many organ recipients have had their health dramatically improved or even that lives have been saved.

Assisting the Vice Lord-Lieutenant was the Lord Mayor of Liverpool.  Also present was the Lady Mayoress.  Not shown was the Rector of Liverpool, the Reverend Father Crispin Pailing who is the Chaplain of St John Ambulance in Merseyside and who provides a special caring ministry to those who attend this event but who find the experience to be particularly emotional.

Among those present from St John Ambulance were the County President, Colonel Martin Amlôt OBE OStJ DL, the Chairman of the St John Merseyside County Priory Group, Cllr Les Byrom CBE, and members of the Ceremonial Parade Unit of St John Ambulance in Merseyside.
