Paula Ridley
Paula Ridley was Chair of the Liverpool Housing Action Trust regenerating Liverpool’s high-rise housing between 1993-2005, and
was Director of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation 1999-2007.
Her career has covered the fields of urban regeneration, the arts and the environment. She was a Board Member of the Merseyside Development Corporation between 1991 and 1998, was a member of the Royal Commission on Long Term Care for the Elderly
1997–99 and presented Granada Television’s social action programmes between 1989 and 1991.
She was Chairman of the Victoria and Albert Museum between 1998-2007, has been a Trustee of the Tate Gallery (and first Chair of Tate Liverpool) and of the National Gallery. She was on the Council of the University of Liverpool for ten years until December 2007. She has an honorary LLD from the University of Liverpool, and is an Honorary Fellow of John Moores University and of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
She is currently Chair of the Liverpool Biennial of Contemporary Art, is a former Chair of Civic Voice and of the National Student Drama Festival and a former Board member of the National Communities Resource Centre. She is Honorary Vice-President of Merseyside Civic Society.
